Overview
If you're someone who craves a rush of adrenaline and loves being out in nature, canyoning in Nepal should be right at the top of your bucket list. It's one of those activities that combines raw adventure with the kind of natural beauty that stops you in your tracks.
Canyoning here is all about descending through narrow gorges carved out by rivers over thousands of years. You'll find yourself rappelling down waterfalls, jumping into crystal-clear pools, sliding along natural rock chutes, and swimming through stretches of emerald water — all surrounded by lush jungle and towering cliffs. It's unlike anything you've done before.
Nepal's rugged Himalayan terrain makes it a natural playground for this sport. There are several outstanding spots to choose from — Jalbire Canyon in the Sindhupalchok district is one of the most popular and offers everything from beginner-friendly sections to more advanced descents. Sundarijal, just on the outskirts of Kathmandu, is perfect if you're short on time but still want the full experience. Over near Pokhara, the canyons around Ghalel village are surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. And then there's the Charaudi Canyon along the Trishuli River in Dhading, which is another fantastic option.
The best part? You don't need to be a seasoned adventurer to give this a go. Beginners are absolutely welcome — our experienced guides will walk you through everything from safety protocols to equipment handling before you even get near the water. All you really need is a sense of adventure and the willingness to get wet.
For the best conditions, we recommend going between October and May. The waterfalls are flowing nicely, the weather is cooperative, and the trails to the canyon sites are in good shape. It really is the perfect window to experience Nepal's wild side from a completely different angle.

Your Journey
1 DaysYour day starts with a morning meetup in Thamel at around 9:00 AM. After a quick introduction and briefing about the day ahead, we hop in a vehicle and drive out to Sundarijal — it takes roughly an hour to get there. Once we arrive, there's a short walk to the canyon entry point where you'll get fitted with all the gear and go through a thorough safety briefing. Then the fun begins — expect around 2 to 3 hours of rappelling, jumping, sliding, and swimming through the canyon. After you've had your fill of adventure, we'll head to a nearby local spot for a well-earned lunch. Then it's a relaxed drive back to Kathmandu, getting you home by late afternoon.
