Overview

Embark on the ultimate Himalayan motorcycle adventure through the ancient kingdom of Lo, better known as Upper Mustang. This 12-day expedition takes you through one of Nepal's most restricted and mystical regions, where Tibetan Buddhist culture has remained virtually unchanged for centuries.

Riding Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycles - purpose-built for high-altitude adventure - you'll traverse dramatic landscapes ranging from lush river valleys to arid, lunar-like terrain that resembles Tibet more than Nepal. The route follows ancient trade routes along the Kali Gandaki gorge, the world's deepest canyon, flanked by two 8,000-meter peaks.

The journey begins in Pokhara and winds through traditional villages before climbing into the restricted zone of Upper Mustang. You'll ride through red, ochre, and grey cliffs eroded into spectacular formations, past ancient cave dwellings, and through the walled medieval city of Lo Manthang - the former capital of the Kingdom of Lo.

This expedition is designed for experienced riders comfortable with off-road conditions. The terrain includes everything from smooth tarmac to rocky riverbeds, steep mountain passes, and challenging single-track trails. A support vehicle accompanies the group, carrying luggage and providing backup for mechanical issues.

Upper Mustang was closed to foreigners until 1992, and a special restricted area permit is still required. This exclusivity has helped preserve its unique culture, ancient monasteries, and traditional way of life. You'll experience authentic Tibetan hospitality, visit centuries-old gompas (monasteries), and witness a landscape and culture found nowhere else on Earth.
